A tribute to the fiber inventor, INVISTA donated to the National Inventor Hall of Fame National Inventors Hall of Fame
China, Shanghai – May 3, 2, LYCRA® (The owner of the Lycra® brand, INVISTA, recently held its LYCRA® celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Leica® fiber and donated to the National Inventors Hall of Fame This original spandex fiber revolutionized the entire fashion industry. In 1958, Dr. Joseph C. Shivers, a chemistry expert at DuPont, invented the world's most famous brand fiber and changed the way it was worn.
Sixty years later, Dr. Shivers was recognized by the National Inventors Hall of Fame for the invention. This year, Dr. Shivers, who has died, was selected for the 2018 list. The awards ceremony was held on May 3rd in Washington, DC.
